Insurance and responsibility
TowHub is a trailer listing marketplace. We help connect renters with trailer owners, but we do not provide insurance, own the trailers, or manage the rental transaction between users.
Before hiring or listing a trailer, both parties should make sure they understand what is and is not covered.
For renters
Before towing a hired trailer, check with your insurer that your vehicle policy covers:
- Towing a hired or borrowed trailer
- Damage to the trailer
- Damage caused by the trailer
- Theft, accident, or third-party liability
- Any restrictions on trailer weight, type, or use
Do not assume your standard car insurance automatically covers everything.
For trailer owners
Before listing your trailer, check with your insurer that your policy allows:
- Hiring your trailer to other people
- Commercial or paid trailer use
- Theft, damage, accident, or loss while hired
- Public liability or third-party damage
- Bond or excess recovery arrangements
Some personal insurance policies may not cover rental or marketplace use.
Bonds and damage
Owners may choose to charge a bond. The bond amount, damage process, refund timeframe, and repair responsibility should be agreed before the trailer is handed over.
TowHub’s role
TowHub does not assess insurance claims, decide fault, guarantee payment, or cover damage, theft, fines, accidents, injury, or loss. Users are responsible for making their own insurance and rental arrangements.
